Regeneration by Pat Barker
Labels:
Literary Fiction,
No grade
I know I said in this post that I would read this book, and the one that follows. I have now tried, and here is what I have found: these people are all still depressed. Or rather, some different people are depressed, and some of the same people (who I know will end up dead) are getting depressed. Depressed depressed depressed. Can't do it.

Beck, I'm glad you read ahead, now I don't need to finish this book. I felt very attached to these characters but as I read further along,it became clear this was going nowhere but down.No glint of hope to prop you up to keep slogging through.
I like a reader who can put a book down when she has had enough!
Thanks for the tip! I could do without reading a book about depressed, depressed, depressed just at the moment.
The characters in Regeneration, trying to put themselves together after being in the trenches of World War 1, had much to be depressed about.
Hi - I've come over from Petrona... I completely agree with you about Regeneration. Too depressing for words-- I couldn't get through it either!
